The professional and caring staff at Chicagoland Cremation Options firmly believe that the men and women who came to the aid of their country exemplify the values that are so precious to Americans. We all owe them the same respect and fidelity they have shown to their fellow citizens and to a grateful nation. The brave families of Joliet, Evanston, Oak Park, and all of the Chicago area have been there when their nation needed them most. We consider it an honor to be there for them and their families in their time of need.
The two urns pictured below are free to the Veteran families who allow us the honor of serving them in their time of need.

Who is Eligible?
In short, the veteran must have been honorably discharged. A more detailed list of those service men and women who may apply for, and receive veterans' burial benefits, with full military honors if they choose would include:
- Military members on active duty or in the Selected Reserve
- Former military members who served on active duty and departed under conditions other than dishonorable
- Former military members who completed at least one term of enlistment or period of initial obligated service in the Selected Reserve and departed under conditions other than dishonorable
- Former military members discharged from the Selected Reserve due to a disability incurred or aggravated in the line of duty.

Additional Resources
To find out in advance if you can be buried in a VA national cemetery, you can submit an application. A pre-need determination of eligibility is what this is known as, and it can make the arranging of your funeral easier for your family ones in their time of need.
