Vicky Fillow

Vicky Fillow, a beautiful soul known for her infectious laugh and beaming smile and whose boundless compassion touched everyone she met, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2024, at the age of 48. She resided in Des Plaines, IL. 

Vicky had a deep love for life’s simplest pleasures: the thrill of a board game, the magic of a well-spun fantasy novel, the comfort of her favorite TV shows, the excitement of a new restaurant, and the adventure of hunting for hidden treasures at a thrift store. She cared tenderly for her beloved pets—Gracie, Randall, Smudge, and Spike,—who brought her endless comfort and joy. But above all, cooking was her greatest passion. She found bliss in experimenting with new recipes and tasting dishes from all corners of the world. The comforting aroma of a home-cooked meal, paired with the warmth of a decadent dessert, was Vicky’s true delight. Cooking was not just a pastime for her; it was her love language, her way of embracing those closest to her. She found immense happiness in creating meals that nourished the body and heart, savoring every moment spent sharing them with her loved ones.

While Vicky’s radiant smile could light up any room, it was her heart that truly shone the brightest. She possessed an extraordinary gift for finding the silver lining in every situation, always serving as a beacon of hope and positivity. Vicky made everyone feel seen and cherished—whether through kind words, a heartfelt message, homemade peach cobbler, or the warmth of a hug. She had a way of making people feel truly loved and valued, leaving an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Vicky was more than just special—she was extraordinary. She was a light in the lives of those who knew her, and her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.

Vicky is survived by her loving sister and best friend, Annie Fillow, and a host of dear friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved mother Kathleen Harris. We love you, Vicky.
