Sylvester Joseph Puclik, age 94, of Chicago, IL; Schererville, IN; Lansing, IL; and South Chicago, IL, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 26, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Sylvester was a kind, gentle, and giving man whose warmth and compassion touched everyone he met. Generosity was the cornerstone of his character—he gave selflessly and without hesitation. His kindness was boundless and unwavering, a true reflection of his generous heart and his gift of unconditional love that he shared freely with family, friends, and even strangers.
A proud Army veteran, Sylvester dedicated his life to his country, his family, and his work. He spent over 40 years at U.S. Steel and was a devoted Chicago Cubs fan, relishing every victory and remaining steadfast through every loss.
Sylvester’s family was his greatest joy, and nothing brought him more happiness than spending time with his grandchildren. He was incredibly proud of them, celebrating their achievements and enjoying cherished moments together. Sylvester supported his loved ones in countless ways—whether through heartfelt advice, quiet acts of service, or simply being present when it mattered most.
He is survived by his two sons, Brian (Dana) and Timothy; six grandchildren—Regan, Griffin, Timothy, Scott, Erika, and Janelle; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers Joseph, Fred, Erv, and Bob.
Sylvester’s boundless generosity, unwavering kindness, and unconditional love leave a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
