Stephen Craig Johnson

Stephen Craig Johnson, 69, of Streator, IL; formerly of Rossville, IL; passed away in Chicago on February 10th 2018. An informal celebration of life will take place at Jerry’s Tap and Family Dining in Ransom, IL on Monday February 19th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Steve was born on July 29, 1948 to Robert A Johnson and Wilma E (Hamilton) Johnson in Ames, IA. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Rebecca (Norton) Johnson, his children, Jessica (Felix Velazquez), Robert, and Mary (Axel Swanson), his mother, Wilma Johnson, his siblings Phil (Linda) Johnson, Patrice (Wayne) Huston, Randy (Kris) Johnson, and Janice (David) Ray, his grandchildren, Phoenix and Leo Johnson Velazquez. Mr. Johnson had great confidence, love, and respect for his students. Through the years he engaged students in Natural Helpers, cross country running, and often opened the weight room early in the morning. Most recently he was a guidance counselor at Putnam County High School and previously at Woodland (IL) High School, Butternut (WI) High School, Lake Havasu City (AZ) High School, Hagerman (NM) High School, and Lordsburg (NM) High School.
