Robert Delaney

Robert Delaney was born in Minter City, Mississippi on April 14, 1947 to D.C. Delaney and Emma Jackson. He later moved to Illinois and grew up on Chicago's West Side. Robert retired after a 25 year long career with the City of Chicago's Streets and Sanitation. He was an avid stepper and active member of Higher Level Stepper's Club. Robert peacefully passed away February 20, 2025 at age 77. 

Robert is survived by his beloved wife Mattie Stevenson-Delaney; loving children Doris Nelson, Maurice Nelson and LaShona Delaney; a host of cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including granddaughter Bridgett Delaney and great-granddaughter D'yor Young; five brothers and two sisters; and many dear friends. 

Robert was preceded in death by his Mother and Father. Two daughters Carolyn Barnes and Renea Nelson, three brothers and one sister. 

A memorial service will take place at a future date and time.
