Nancy Ann Shea (nee Palfrey), 68, passed away on May 22, 2024, in her hometown of Chicago, Illinois. She was born on August 16, 1955, to James and Dorothy Palfrey. Nancy was a loving wife to her husband of 40 years, James Shea. She was a beloved sister to Janet and John, and a devoted mother to her sons Brian Balke, Christopher Balke, Patrick Shea, and Collin Shea. Nancy adored her grandchildren Caleb Shea and CJ Balke.
Nancy had a heart full of love and always put others before herself. She cherished her family and friends and was known for her caring nature. Nancy had a genuine concern for the well-being of others and would go out of her way to help those in need.
After graduating from Saint Xavier College, Nancy dedicated her career to teaching in the Chicago Public Schools at Caesar Chavez. She took great pride in being a union member and was passionate about providing quality education to her students.
In her free time, Nancy enjoyed watching old movies on Turner Classic Movies and basking in the warmth of the sun during vacations with her close-knit group of friends. She was also an outspoken advocate for equality and inclusion, using her voice to champion the rights of others.
Nancy had a remarkable gift for making everyone around her feel comfortable and accepted. She had a way of making people feel loved and valued for who they truly were. Her kind and compassionate nature will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
