Michael P. Teach

September 26, 1945 — November 23, 2024

Chicago

Michael P. Teach, 79, of Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood and formerly of Vale, Colorado and Denver, Colorado, peacefully passed after a long battle with cancer November 23, 2024.

Michael graduated from Palatine High School and received his BA at Arizona State. Fondly remembered as the angel of Chicago's music scene,  Michael vehemently promoted bands and their music solely for his love of the arts and not for any financial gain. He nurtured many artists throughout the years, giving opportunities to musicians who might not have otherwise received significant exposure. During the last decade, Michael developed and hosted the Chicago Music Underground Podcast. As highlighted on the webpage, Michael had "worked throughout the nation and the world with touring bands and has earned kudos presenting artists ranging from Harry Chapin and B.B. King to Hank Williams, Jr. in his vast industry experience. His passion for original music is unsurpassed, and the entire CAU team is boldly pushing forward to create opportunities for original musicians at every level."

Michael leaves behind his best friend, jester and caretaker, Gregory Combs; brother Jeffrey Teach; 4 nieces and nephews and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Gordon and Mary Teach, and his beloved dog and companion Buffy.
