Marlan G. Matthes, devoted husband, cherished father, beloved grandfather and great grandfather, passed away on November 23,2024 at the age of 83. Born on January 17, 1941, Marlan had a life rich in love, kindness, and unwavering dedication to his family and community.
A lifelong Chicago sports fan, Marlan found immense joy in the thrill of the game, passionately supporting his teams through thick and thin. His love sports was matched only by his love for collecting baseball cards. Those who had the pleasure of sharing these interests with him will fondly remember his enthusiasm and infectious spirit.
Marlan was married for 42 years to his beloved wife, Patricia, who has preceded him in death. Their union was a beautiful testament to enduring love. He is survived by his loving children: Melanie (Charles) Andrew, Robin (Michael) Settle, Daniel (Angie) Walsh, John Walsh, and Steve Walsh. His love continues through their lives as well as through his 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, each of whom he adored deeply. He is also remembered by his brother, Duane (Wanda) Matthes, who stood by him throughout his life’s journey, sharing memories and moments that will forever be treasured.
His legacy will be carried forward by the love he fostered in his family and friends, and he will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.
