Marie E. Jewell

Marie E. Jewell, 78, of Elk Grove Village, Illinois passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 3, 2025. Beloved wife of Raymond Jewell for 59 blessed years after meeting each other at Longfellow elementary school in Berkeley, Illinois. Cherished Mother to Marcia (Chris) Swift and Michael (Blaire) Jewell. Dear”Grandma Chicago” to Drake Swift and Anthony and Addison Jewell. Loving Sis to Barbara (Tony) Bria and sister-in-laws Karen Vassolo and Linda Jewell. Preceded in death by her dearest parents Salvatore and LaJune Vassolo and sweet brothers Robert and Steve Vassolo. 

Marie was passionate about loving her family unconditionally and seeing the best in everyone. Her proud moments were attending every one of her children’s sporting events and school activities while raising her family in Hillside, Illinois. She enjoyed teaching her grandchildren to play card games and always leaving them with an infectious smile on her face. Friend to many while coordinating multiple card & bunco groups. Marie’s home was a welcoming place, always filled with love and laughter and her door was always open to family, friends and neighbors alike. 

On Thursday January 9, 2025 visitation will be 1-3pm until the time of the memorial church service from 3-4pm at Living HOPE Church, 777 Meacham Road, Elk Grove Village, Illinois 60007. Internment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marie’s memory to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org
