Leon Joseph Congenie Sr, 59 of Gurnee, Illinois and formerly of Chicago, Illinois passed away after a short illness. He is survived by his beloved wife Tina Congenie (Edwards), loving sons Leon Congenie Jr. and wife Anna, and Michael Edwards, cherished grandchildren Leoni, Vincent, Josephina, Michael Angelo, Skylar and wife Nicole, Mikey Flasza and great grandchildren Kole and Saulden, his devoted sister Gina Lee Congenie-Watford (William) loving niece Ashley and great nieces Hailee, Izabelle and great nephews Dominic, Greyson and Ashton, double-cousins Leo and George Congenie and numerous other relatives, friends and neighbors. Leon Sr is preceded in death by his parents George and Judy Congenie of Chicago, Illinois and his beloved brother Vincent "Vincenzo". Leon Sr loved boxing, Evander Holyfield was the best in his eyes. John Jones was his favorite UFC fighter and Da Chicago Bears were his number one team! The color red was his favorite color, his favorite foods were pasta and pizza. Leon Sr spent most of his days spending time with his cherished grandchildren, he walked them to the park and spent many days playing games with them outside and Leon Sr had love for all sorts of music.
Leon Sr was respectfully addressed as Pops, Dad, Papa, Uncle, Lee, Leonardo, Nardo, Cuz and Scone Capone.Leon Sr also loved his dogs King and Lefty, his best friends that never left his side.The Congenie family would like to express a big thank you to the Highland Park Hospital inpatient hospice team for the excellent care Leon Sr received and the support during this difficult time.
