Leah Nelson

Leah Nelson passed away at home on September 11, 2024. She was born in Oak Park, Illinois

on March 5, 1946 to Helen Drummond Nelson and Russell Nelson. Leah was the second oldest

of four children. Her older sister Christina Spencer, previously Connors, died in 2018. She is

survived by her sister Janice Nelson-Drake and brother Keith Nelson as well as Nelson, Drake,

and Connors nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She had many loyal friends

throughout her life.

One of her greatest prides was her home in Cary which reflects her artistic nature, exquisite

taste and love of gardening. She supported herself as an artist creating unique rug murals

purchased by both businesses and individuals. She did custom decorating and also used her

prodigious sewing skills to create beautiful one of a kind clothing.

When she was younger she worked briefly as a flight attendant and was a photographer's

model. But art was her true love.

She loved cats and had many during her life. Her cat Raven was her favorite and luckily will

continue to live in the house in the good care of Bill and Chad.
