Joe Algirdas Markevicius was born in Augsburg, Germany, raised in the Back of the Yards, and raised his children in Bridgeport, Chicago. He passed away June 30, 2018, aged 68. Husband of the late Tammy Paschke, loving father of Jeremy (and Mikiko) Paschke, Vincent (and Casie) Ernst, and David Caleb Paschke, adoring grandfather of Stella Ernst, brother of Carl, Ode, TD, Josephine and Jim, son of Vytautas and Aldona, dear friend of Ira Schneiderman and Paul Lake, uncle, cousin and friend to many.
An artist who worked oil pastel, paint, and pen and ink to strong effect, specializing in scenes of the city, its small inhabitants, and the beautiful skies that look over them, his work will continue to be loved and admired. He was a World War 1 & 2 buff, a bird and star watcher, a lover of classic monster movies, crime stories, and golden oldies.
