John Conrad Hermann

On December 29th, 2024, a vibrant spirit moved on from this life surrounded by love and family. John Hermann (88), was a loving, devoted, amazing and cherished husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law, cousin, friend, neighbor, devoted Lutheran, power boater, lover of nature and creatures, Wisconsin Master Naturalist volunteer, hike leader, mower of trails and music lover. 

John was a trusted advisor to all who knew him. John grew up in Chicago, Illinois. He spent much of his life in Park Ridge, Illinois before retiring and moving to Door County, Wisconsin. John was among the first MBAs to graduate from Northwestern University. John spent his career in Management Information Systems working for Zenith, Motorola, Clow Corporation and Hirsch Industries. After 22 years, John retired from Hart Marx as the VP of Information Services.

John leaves behind his beloved wife Dolores of 66 years, Donna Hermann, daughter, Timothy Hermann, son, Debra Hermann, daughter-in-law, Thomas Hermann, son, Kay Hermann, daughter-in-law, AJ Hermann, grandson, Jennie Hou granddaughter-in-law, Allison Hermann, granddaughter, Austin Hermann, grandson, and Jodie Hermann, granddaughter as well as his dear cousins and friends. 

John and his wife Dolores enjoyed power boating, volunteering for the Land Trust and in-service to their church. John was a member of the Door County Sail & Power Squadron, the Door County Land Trust and most important to him St. Paul Lutheran Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir. John’s warmth, kindness and unwavering spirit touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. John will be dearly missed by those who knew him yet will remain supported by all John taught us throughout his life and all his love shown. 

Immediate family members will be attending a graveside service. John’s ashes will be interred at Memorial Gardens in Arlington Heights, IL. A memorial service will be held in John’s honor in Door County, Wisconsin, July 5, 2025. In lieu of flowers the family would prefer donations to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Juddville, WI or to the Door County Land Trust.
