James L. Maxwell was born on November 11, 1932 in Kellyton Alabama and, left us at the early age of 86; at rest on August 8, 2019. He was the beloved husband of the late Frances and together has (5) children; Carolyn, Paul, Jerome, Sheila and Steven. In addition to the family, Anthony Peters, Karen Bolton Douglas Shield and Brenda Perales. Cherished grandfather of fifteen and great-grandfather of eight. He retired from the City of Chicago. James was a corporal in the Army of the United States from March 10, 1953 to February 5, 1955. James, later in life, suffered from a tragic disease of Dementia. The disease took over his life. I (Carolyn) wondered how was he able to talk to God? As time progressed, I would sit with him and he would say to me... "The Lord is my Shepherd". I knew then, he was speaking with the Lord and had made his confessions to Him.
He was a proud man with a distinguished soul. He wanted the best for his family. Respect, Courteous and well Mannered were etiquettes learned and mastered in our household from the youngest to the oldest. He will be missed sincerely.
Visitation will be held from 2-2:30 PM at Cooney Funeral Home, 625 W. Busse Hwy. Park Ridge, IL 60068 on Saturday, August 17, 2019. Service to follow.
