George John DeBalko, 82, of Mt. Prospect, IL, passed away on July 25, 2020 after a brief illness. Born November 20, 1937, in Wilkes-Barre, PA, to John and Veronica DeBalko, George graduated from McAdoo High School in 1955. After attending Penn State University, he graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology in 1962 with a degree in restaurant management. Following graduation George served in the US Army.
After marrying the love of his life, Victoria, the pair eventually relocated to Mt. Prospect, IL, where George parlayed his management experience into operating his own successful pest control business. George and Victoria traveled extensively throughout their 52 year marriage, exploring the country and visiting family frequently.
George was an avid reader, particularly of historical non-fiction, and his considerable knowledge made him a riveting conversationalist. George loved to converse through the night while enjoying donuts, fascinating those who knew him.
George is survived by his wife of 52 years Victoria nee Bacon, children Lynne M. (Jeremy) Jackson and Vicki A. (Rob) Reichel, grandchildren Richard (Tiffany) Ostrowski, Steven Ostrowski, Taylor (Tyler) Koebernick, Danny Ostrowski, Robert Reichel, Grace Reichel and great-granddaughter Everly, siblings Joseph DeBalko, Vera Mary Lombardo and John (Michelle) DeBalko as well as several nieces and nephews. George was preceded in death by his father John DeBalko and his mother Veronica Madochick DeBalko.
