Evoyn Tarr

April 15, 1941 — July 3, 2023

Evoyn Tarr was born April 15, 1941, Chicago Il to Teakel and Maude Gardner. Evoyn was the
12th of 13 children.

Evoyn graduated from Douglas Ementary School, Dunbar High school and holds an associate
degree from Wright College in finance. Evoyn worked as an administrative assistant for Spiegel
Corp until she married. Evoyn successfully managed their real estate business until she retired in
2013.

Evoyn married Eugene Tarr on September 5, 1962. To this union three children were born, Lisa,
Stephanie, and Jason. Eugene preceded her in death November 26, 1991.
Evoyn referred to as “Mommy”, heard a voice in the Big House (8034 S Dante) in 1965 in her
bedroom that said “It’s time to come in.” She thought someone was in the house. The voice said
again, “It’s time to come in.” Mommy replied” Ok but no promises.” It was this time that Evoyn
began her journey with Christ. Evoyn has been a member of everybody’s church for over 50
years. She was called into the Ministry during a home bible study. She heard the voice of God
quote several words from the gospel of St. Luke, Chapter 4 V. 18: “The spirit of the Lord is upon
me”. She was ordained and licensed by the late Pastor Acie L Singleton of Everybody’s Church
in September of 1987 and again by Prophet Edgar Aaron Senior Pastor, September 2009. Elder
Tarr carried out an anointing of a teacher. Elder Tarr did commentary every Thursday night on
the Sunday School Lesson of the weekly Radio Broadcast under Elder Willie Jones, Power in the
Praise until she retired in 2022. Elder Tarr served as a Superintendent of Sunday School, Sunday
School Teacher, Chairperson of the Educational and College fund, Building Fund and sat on the
Board of Trustees until she retired from those positions.

Those who truly knew Elder Tarr knew that she always began with what does the word say when
it came to answering questions, solving problems of life or just being a moral compass to many
people. You may not have liked her delivery, but you must respect the word. Elder Tarr had a
greater passion than ever to know Christ and make him known. Philippians 3 V. 10 – That I may
know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made
conformable unto his death;

Some of her favorite scriptures:

II Corinthians 5 V. 7: For We walk by faith and not by sight.

II Corinthians 4 V 8: While we look not at things which are seen, but at things which are not
seen: For the things which are seen are temporal: But things which are not seen are Eternal.

Gardner, brother Calvin (Gladys) Gardner; sisters Elise Dixon, Geraldine (Jacob) Gardner,
