Emily Hardaway

Emily Hardaway, a beloved member of the Chicago community, passed away on September 8, 2023. She was born on March 12, 1954, in Chicago, which remained her home until her peaceful departure. Emily was the loving daughter of Evelyn Chambers and Lawrence Wilson.

Throughout her life, Emily embodied kindness and compassion. Her warm heart touched the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing her. As a mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, she leaves behind an enduring legacy that will be treasured by those she touched.

Emily's family was her greatest joy and source of love. She is survived by her children Eric, Omarr (Cheryl), Celeste(Al), and Wayne. Her grandchildren Bobby Jamal, Cierra, Jada, Alexander, Lil Wayne III, Allen, and Donna, and great-grandchild JaHari Omarr, were the light of her life. Emily adored each one of them and took great pride in watching them grow into remarkable individuals. She nurtured and supported them throughout their lives with unwavering love.  Emily also leaves behind 2 brothers, Lawrence and George; her niece Tanisha and nephews Treavor and Terron. 

Emily's sister Marsha stood by her side through thick and thin. Their bond ran deep as they shared joys and sorrows together. Marsha provided unwavering support during both good times and challenging moments in their lives.


Emily's passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, but her memory will live on through the stories shared by family and friends. Her tender heart, generosity, and unwavering support for those she loved will forever serve as a guiding light for those who knew her.


Emily will always be remembered as a loving mother, doting grandmother, caring sister, and loyal friend. Her spirit will continue to inspire all those fortunate enough to have known her. May she rest in eternal peace knowing that her love will forever be cherished.
