Elizabeth June Less, a cherished member of the Lake Geneva community, passed away peacefully on August 17 2024, at the age of 99. Born on June 25, 1925, in Chicago, Illinois, she lived a life rich in contributions and love.
For over 30 years, Elizabeth dedicated herself to the Lake Geneva Museum, where she not only ran the institution but also infused it with her passion for history and education. Her love for setting up displays and uncovering the fascinating stories behind them made the museum a beloved destination for locals and visitors alike. Beyond her professional commitments, Elizabeth selflessly volunteered her sewing services, showcasing her creativity and dedication to supporting her community.
Elizabeth was married to Lawrence Less for 36 wonderful years. He and her brother, Lee Miller, preceded her in death, leaving behind a legacy of love that she carried throughout her life.
She is survived by her three daughters: Laura Kubin (the late Michael), Susan Lafin (the late Richard), and Marilyn Rooney (Tom), who hold dear the memories of their mother's unwavering strength and kindness. Elizabeth's legacy continues through her grandchildren — Karen Mesa (Chico), Kathy Prebis, Kristen Marcuccilli (Dean), and Amy Halik (Jeremy Peterson)— her great-grandchildren, Miya, Jacob, Kyle, Sydney, and Delaney. Each of them carries a piece of her spirit, ensuring that her impact on their lives endures.
Elizabeth June Less will be remembered not only for her remarkable service to the Lake Geneva Museum but also for the warmth, generosity, and love she shared with her family and friends. As they mourn her loss, they also celebrate the extraordinary life she led and the indelible mark she left on the hearts of those fortunate enough to know her.
