Daniel Greer, a kind and hardworking man, whose faithful spirit touched the lives of many, was born on August 7, 1937, in Kosciusko, Mississippi. He departed from this world peacefully at home on February 14, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and community.
Daniel's journey was marked by a deep commitment to his work and a profound dedication to helping others. He was the proud proprietor of Artesian Dental Lab, where he honed his skills with his hands, demonstrating an impressive mastery of his craft. Later in life, he served as the Custodian and Building & Grounds Supervisor of the West Harvey-Dixmoor School District, where his presence made a lasting impression on students and faculty alike.
From a young age, Daniel embraced his faith and was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church and the House of Prayer Ministries By Faith. He loved singing in the choir, sharing his voice and joy with the congregation. His deep-rooted spiritual beliefs guided him throughout his life, inspiring him to volunteer for causes close to his heart, including PADS for men and local food pantries. He often helped feed the homeless and those in need, showcasing his unwavering compassion. Daniel was also recognized as a Mason and participated in relief efforts following Hurricane Katrina, demonstrating his commitment to service beyond his immediate community. He was a leader of his family and selfless hardworking example to those around him.
Daniel's personality was filled with warmth and kindness, traits that remained consistent throughout his life. He valued time spent with family, proudly supporting his children and grandchildren. His interests included playing various card games, fishing, cooking, watching the Cooking Channel, bowling, and playing pool; each pursued with an enthusiasm that reflected his zest for life.
He is survived by his loving wife, Bobbie Greer; son, Marcus Greer; daughter, Katerina Rodgers; grandchildren, Keeley Rodgers and Katelin Rodgers; and great-grandchild, Kayleigh; in addition to a large extended family and friends. During Daniel's life, he touched many through his warm, energetic and engaging personality which will be remembered and cherished by many.
Daniel is preceded in death by his mother, Mattie Greer; father, John Greer; and siblings: Clarence, Eddy, Raymond, Jim, and sisters, Maggie and Jessie. We celebrate the reunion of their spirits to enjoy each other's company into eternity.
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 1, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the House of Prayer Ministries By Faith, located at 480 Lakewood Blvd, Park Forest, IL, 60466. Family, friends, and all whose lives Dan touched are invited to join in honoring his life and the legacy of kindness he bestowed upon the world.
