Bernard “Chip” Kuhlmann, beloved husband of the late Cecilia, moved on from this world the morning of January 23, 2025. Chip is survived by his brother Tom (Chalice); his sons: Ted (Mariah), Tom (Katie), and Terry (Colleen); his grandchildren: Connor, Nathan, Jacob, Fiona, Lily, Juniper, and Cassius who affectionately knew him as “Chippa.” Devoted son of the late Bernard "Ben" Kuhlmann and Bernice (Philip) Lucckese. Dear uncle and brother-in-law to many.
A lifelong Chicago resident, Chip was a social butterfly for most of his life, on the softball field in his youth, at the taverns with friends, or coaching his sons and numerous neighborhood friends at Queen of Angels Elementary School and Welles Park in Lincoln Square. He was deeply involved in his sons’ lives both as a father in their youth, and as a friend in their adult lives.
Chip operated in the liquor business for his entire working years, starting at Hiram Walker and transitioning to Judge & Dolph, which became Witrz Beverage Company. He retired in 2011 after about 40 years of commitment to the industry.
Chip’s greatest passion in life was his wife, Cece. They were always out and about with countless dear friends who made their lives rich with laughter and love. Chip will be remembered for his smile, jokes, dance moves, and loyalty to those he held close.
In honor of his final wishes, Chip will be buried beside his wife at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines, IL. He declined a wake or funeral; a memorial is planned for this spring. For more information, please reach out to the family.
