Barbara Ries entered this world on March 9, 1959 as the last bundle of love (baby girl) of Charles Ries Sr. and Ruth Ries. Being the youngest of 19 children, she was adored for her big beautiful eyes and curly hair.
Barbara attended Price Elementary School and Dawson Skilled Center where she achieved her diploma and secretarial training certificate. She continued her career with the Illinois Department of Human Services and retired after 20 years of services.
Barbara attended the Drexel Avenue Church of God and was baptized under the leadership of Pastor Willie Gordon. She always enjoyed the angelic sound of the choir but expressed her praise from the pews instead. We always found her “offkey” tune amusing.
Barbara had a passion for cooking (she made the BEST lasagna) and playing cards. But her first love was the CASINO.
Proceeding Barbara in death are her brothers Tony, Bernard, Michael, Jimmie, Harry, Essie and her sisters Ernestine, Mamie and Bessie.
Barbara leaves to cherish her two brothers: Charles Ries Jr., Arthur Ries and seven sisters: Joanne Johnson, Jacklyn McMullen (Phillip), Portia Holcomb (Mack), Patricia Ries, Audrey Albert, Mary Ries, Thelma Smith, godson: Malcolm McMullen and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
