Alexander Borges

Born Mar. 26, 1922, Alexander Borges passed away in his home on Mar. 23, 2020. He was preceded in death my his wife Gisela, and son Michael (Lorie). Loving father of Stefan (Nancy) and Beatrice (Mark), grandfather of Richard (Marina), Christina (Keith), Thomas (Emily), Connor and Alexandra. Great grandfather of Logan, Briella and Rebecca. Born in Germany, and a proud naturalized American, Alex was a civil engineer who worked in Germany, Colombia, US, Pakistan and Argentina. He lead engineering teams on large projects such Mangla Dam in Pakistan and Yacyreta Dam in Argentina. Alex was proficient in five languages. He enjoyed many additional activities such as swimming, snorkeling, hosting parties, listening to a variety of music, especially jazz. Alex built his own cabinets and desks and loved working on Topical Stamp exhibits with top level recognition. One of his biggest joys was spending time with the grandchildren and sharing his many stories of meeting people and his adventures as he traveled and lived around the world. His memories will carry on. A memorial service will be arranged at a later date when feasible. Arrangements entrusted to Chicagoland Cremation Options of Schiller Park, Illinois.
